Who cares....
If Iran develops nuclear weapons? Doesn't the US, Russia & China have anti-missle systems all over the world to counteract any potential nuclear strike? And, does Iran have the gall to even shoot one off?
About Britney Spears and K-Fed? They're just another American dysfunctional couple headed for divorce court sooner or later, and doesn't the media and the public have much better things to worry about, like psoriasis?
If Barry Bonds uses steroids? Since the beginning of time, athletes have always looked for an extra edge of some kind. Remember East Germany and the x-y chromosone issues that they had? How about the old horseshoe-in-the-glove trick that used to be almost commonplace in boxing? What about Babe Ruth? He had a 296-ft. backyard porch for a target in the old Yankee Stadium. If you make good contact with a pitched ball, ANYONE can hit a ball farther than 296 feet. In addition, Ruth never played in a night game, when the ball doesn't travel as well. He never had to go through the hassle of cross-country plane travel in the middle of the night. He had the relaxing train rides that went only as far "west" as Chicago, less than 1000 miles from New York. AND, due to baseball's segregation policies back then, he faced an incomplete quality of pitching. Ballplayers are grown men, and should be aware of all the long-term risks. Let's not get so sanctimonious.
How badly President Bush is doing? In 7 short weeks, there will be mid-term elections, and once again, the Democrats will have a great opportunity to re-take the House & Senate. If successful, then they can begin the impeachment talks in ernest. It up to us to decide.
If Mel Gibson is anti-Semetic? It's not like racism & Hollywood are strangers to each other. And besides, isn't the popular perception that Hollywood is run by Jews? If that's the case, shouldn't Gibson's career be ruined about now?
About Soccer? Point made.
About tainted spinach? The easy, obvious answer to this would be to not eat any spinach! Simple. Even Popeye would go along with that.
If SUVs are gas-guzzlers? It's not like that's a new concept with car makers, and unlike past luxury cars, SUVs are useful & practical vehicles. As much fuel as they consume, we need them. Do something about the price of gas so that people will have more money to buy SUVs.
If Los Angeles has no NFL team? Retired commissioner Paul Tagliabue didn't. The league is doing just fine without the City of Angels, but more importantly, LA itself is doing just great without the hassle of TV blackouts, outrageous ticket, parking & concession prices, more local headlines about athletes behaving badly, bad on-the-field performances, stadium issues, extra traffic jams, expensive, overpriced team gear that local schoolkids will be practically killing each other to steal from, going years before the team even contends for a Super Bowl berth, and local fans who aren't well-connected, like 99% of them, shut out completly when LA hosts a Super Bowl. Who needs the grief?
